It separates from site ownership more often than people expect. An agency can hand over the website in full and still hold the profile and the tracking numbers, which between them carry your local visibility and your entire enquiry history.
Why it matters in HVAC
The Business Profile is the one that hurts. For a contractor it is frequently the largest single source of enquiries, it carries years of accumulated reviews, and recovering ownership from an unresponsive agency runs through a Google process measured in weeks.
Call tracking numbers are the quiet one. If the numbers belong to the agency and are printed on your vans, your yard signs and three hundred citation listings, losing them means changing all of it or losing the calls.
How to check it
Open each account today and check who is listed as owner rather than manager. Business Profile, analytics, Search Console, the registrar, the host, the call tracking. Anywhere your own email is not the primary owner is a dependency worth fixing before you ever need to.
